Effective August 22, 2026 · Missionary Vault, a product of Mwanga LLC, an Idaho limited liability company (“Missionary Vault,” “we,” “us”) · help@missionaryvault.com
These Terms govern your use of missionaryvault.com and the Missionary Vault app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. You must be 18 or older to create an account — including an account you create in order to join someone else’s vault with a join code. The Service is for personal, family memory-keeping use.
How you accept these Terms. When you create an account, we ask you to tick two separate boxes: one confirming you have read and agree to these Terms, and one confirming you are 18 or older. Both start unticked and neither is optional — ticking them is how you accept. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are linked beside the boxes so you can read them before you agree to anything. Our Privacy Policy describes what we collect and how we handle it, and it forms part of this agreement.
1. What Missionary Vault is
A private vault where your family keeps a missionary’s emails and photos and writes its own journal ("Thoughts"). Each missionary gets a unique capture email address; emails forwarded there are stored in your family’s vault, along with photos you upload and Thoughts you write.
2. Your purchase: one-time, not a subscription
•
Missionary Vault is sold as one-time purchases, not as a subscription. A purchase is a single charge that buys a fixed service term; it does not renew itself, and we will not charge you again when the term ends. The one time we take a payment you have not just authorized on the spot is the end of a free trial you started — that single charge is described in full in Section 3, and you can stop it at any point before it happens. Current prices are shown at checkout.
•
A vault purchase covers a 3-year service term for one missionary. During the term you have full service: capture, uploads, editing, and sharing. You can add additional missionaries or extend a vault’s term with further one-time purchases.
•
When a term ends, nothing is lost. Your vault becomes read-only: everything remains viewable and exportable, forever, at no further charge. We will never delete your memories because a term expired. Buying an extension restores full service to the vault.
•
Payments are processed by Stripe on the web, or by Apple in the iOS app; we never see your card number.
3. The free 30-day trial
If you start a free trial, this is exactly what happens:
•
We take a card at signup, and charge nothing that day. Stripe stores the card; we store only a token that stands in for it.
•
On day 30, that card is charged once — $29.99 — and that is the whole of it. That single charge buys the same 3-year service term as a direct purchase. Nothing recurs afterward, nothing renews, and we do not charge you again when the three years are up.
•
We email you five days before, to the address you gave at checkout, telling you the exact date the charge will happen and the exact amount. It is not meant to be a surprise, and we would rather you cancel than be surprised.
•
Cancelling takes one button, in Settings → Vault & billing, any time before the charge. If you cancel, you are never billed.
•
Everything you have saved stays readable and exportable either way — whether you cancel, let it convert, or the card is declined. A vault that isn’t paid for goes read-only; it is never emptied. If a card is declined on day 30 we do not retry it and we do not charge you later; the trial simply ends.
•
One free trial per vault. The trial is offered once to an account, and only when that account has not already paid.
•
The trial is offered on the web only. Apple does not offer a trial for the kind of purchase the iOS app makes, so the free month lives on missionaryvault.com. The app honors whatever your account already carries.
4. Money-back guarantee
If you’re not happy for any reason, email help@missionaryvault.com within 14 days of purchase and we’ll refund the full purchase price — no questions asked — to your original payment method. We’ll help you export your content first if you’d like. What else changes depends on which purchase was refunded.
Refunding a vault ends the access that purchase paid for. Everyone you shared the vault with using a join code loses access to it, and every join code you had minted stops working. The vault itself becomes read-only: nothing further can be added to it or changed in it — not by them, and not by you. Everything already in it stays exactly as it is, readable and exportable, at no further charge. A refund never empties a vault and never deletes anything. If you want yours open again later, buying the vault again reopens it, and it picks up where it left off.
Refunding an additional missionary does none of that. It gives back the slot, and nothing else. That missionary and everything in it — letters, photos, Thoughts — stay in your vault and stay fully editable, everyone you shared it with keeps their access, and its join code keeps working until you turn it off yourself in Settings → Sharing. What changes is your allowance: you keep every missionary you already have, and you’ll need to buy a slot again before you can add another.
5. Your content stays yours
•
You own your content. Emails, photos, Thoughts, and everything else your family puts in your vault remain yours (and, where applicable, your missionary’s). We claim no ownership.
•
You grant us only the limited license we need to operate the Service for you: to store, back up, process, and display your content to you and the people you share your vault with, to generate your exports and keepsakes, and to print books you order. That’s the entire use. We will never sell your content, use it in advertising, or share it outside your vault except as described in our Privacy Policy.
•
Emails are stored verbatim. We keep them exactly as received and never edit their content.
•
You can export everything, at any time.
6. Forwarded emails and other people’s content
The emails in your vault were written by your missionary, and photos may show other people. When you forward or upload content:
•
You confirm that you received it and have the right to keep and share it within your family’s private vault. Forwarding an email you legitimately received from your missionary to your own family’s vault is exactly what the Service is for. Don’t submit correspondence that wasn’t sent to you or that you have no right to share.
•
You are responsible for the content you submit. If someone with rights in the content — including your missionary — asks for it to be corrected or removed, the vault owner can do so in the app, or we will on request.
7. Sharing your vault: join codes
Each missionary in your vault has its own join code. A join code is a key, not a password: it works for anyone who has it, it can be used any number of times by any number of people, and it does not expire on its own. You are responsible for who you give it to and for what happens to it afterward. Anyone who uses a code must be 18 or older and creates their own sign-in.
You can turn a code off, replace it, or remove a person at any time in Settings → Sharing. Doing so stops further access — but because the Service works offline and keeps a copy on each person’s device, it cannot erase what has already reached someone else’s phone or computer. Please share codes accordingly.
8. Acceptable use
Use the Service lawfully and for its purpose: keeping your family’s missionary memories. Don’t: (a) submit content that is unlawful or infringes others’ rights; (b) use a capture address to collect email you have no right to; (c) access another family’s vault without a code you were given, or publish a code you were given; (d) resell, scrape, or interfere with the Service or its security; (e) misuse referral or promo codes.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe content in the Service infringes your copyright, email help@missionaryvault.com with the specifics (what the work is, where it appears, and your contact information) and we’ll review and remove infringing content. We may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
10. Printed keepsake books
We may offer printed keepsake books as a separate one-time purchase. Book orders will have their own price, shipping details, and any additional terms shown at ordering time, and are fulfilled by a print-on-demand partner who receives your name and shipping address to deliver your order.
11. Not affiliated with the Church
Missionary Vault is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
12. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Missionary Vault reliable, and the specific promises in these Terms — the refund guarantee, the trial terms, your ownership and export rights, verbatim storage, and the read-only promise — are real commitments. Beyond those written promises, the law requires us to say: TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, AND OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE. Some states do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and vault (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms — and if we do, we will still give you a reasonable opportunity to export your content unless the law prevents it. Sections that by their nature survive (your ownership of your content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) survive.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located there. If something goes wrong, email us first at help@missionaryvault.com — we’d rather fix it than litigate it. These Terms deliberately contain no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver; disputes go to ordinary courts.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms and will post a new effective date; for material changes we’ll give reasonable notice by email. No change will take away your ownership of your content, your right to export it, or the read-only promise for a term you already purchased. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
